Objective of the activity:
The objective of this activity was to showcase the extensive collection of books available in the university library, focusing on various facets of women's social, cultural, industrial, and political spheres. The exhibition featured works authored by women and for women. The goal was to encourage students, faculty, and visitors to explore the women's studies section of the library, fostering enrichment and cultivating an interest in reading about women's issues from diverse perspectives. The Treasure Hunt aimed to engage participants in an interactive and educational challenge that tested their knowledge of notable women personalities and their contributions.
Summary/Description:
The Book Exhibition was held from 8th March to 20th March, 2025, while the Treasure Hunt was conducted on 20th March, 2025. The event was organized by the IISU NDLI Club, Central Library, and the Department of Library and Information Science to celebrate International Women's Day.
The exhibition displayed around 600 books approx, covering topics such as women development & empowerment, women in society, women achievers in different fields, gender equality, feminism, women's history, literature by women authors, and contemporary women's issues. Most of the students and faculty members visited the exhibition, engaging with the rich collection of literature dedicated to women's achievements.
The Treasure Hunt featured 16 participants who solve clues and locate books related to influential women across various fields. The clues led participants to different categories of the books enriched with women development promoting active learning and exploration of resources. The event was both educational and entertaining, receiving an enthusiastic response from students and faculty alike.
