Central Library celebrated National Librarian’s Day which is observed on 12 August every year to commemorate the birth anniversary of Padamshree Dr. Shiyali Ramamrita Ranganathan (1892-1972), who is considered as father of library science in India. Dr. Ranganathan dedicated his entire life to library profession in India leaving a rich legacy.

The day was celebrated under Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsava. On this auspicious day, the Central Library displayed the information related to Dr. Ranganathan –his biography, family, education, professional life, his contribution, honours, awards etc. and exhibited the books of general interest- motivational, must read, fiction, non-fiction, personality development, dictionaries, yearbooks in the library from 12th August to 17th August, 2022

A link of a documentary biography of Dr. Ranganathan was also shared with the students and faculty to create awareness about his contribution in the field of library science, which has worldwide influence.

Students and faculty visited the exhibition with great enthusiasm and interest.
